Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know about working with us, and why storytelling matters
What is tech storytelling, and why does my company need it?
Tech storytelling is the practice of translating complex, technical ideas into clear, human narratives that your audience actually wants to engage with.
Most tech companies default to the 'what and how', sharing feature lists, jargon, and data-heavy slides. But people don't connect with specs, they connect with stories. When your audience understands not just what you do, but why it matters to them, they remember you, trust you, and choose you.
Yellow Bricks works specifically with tech founders, scientists, and innovators to locate the real story inside their work, and communicate it with clarity and passion, across every channel and format.
What does thought leadership actually mean, and how do I build it?
Thought leadership means being the voice your industry turns to when the hard questions come up. It's credibility built through perspective, not just credentials.
For tech leaders, thought leadership is built by consistently sharing insight that is specific, honest, and grounded in real experience, not recycled hot takes or generic "how-to" content. The formats vary: conference talks, articles, social posts, podcast appearances, interviews. Usually it’s a combination of a few and the mix could change over time. What matters is having a clear point of view and the communication skills to articulate it compellingly.
Yellow Bricks helps tech leaders develop their thought leadership narrative, identifying the ideas they're uniquely positioned to own, and building the communication habits to make those ideas heard. We also help executives build stellar talks so that next time they take the stage, people stop to listen (instead of visiting the coffee stand outside) and remember what they said (because it was clear and packaged in a fresh way).
How do I prepare for an important conference talk so it would actually resonate with the audience?
The biggest mistake speakers make is building a talk around what they want to say, rather than what the audience needs to hear.
The simplest way to go about each talk or presentation is to address three factors: first and foremost the audience. Know who they are, what keeps them up at night and what knowledge could help them.
Then your goal - what would be a great outcome from this talk? People would line up to speak with you, new leads would land in your inbox, more speaking ops and so on.
And lastly - you. What’s interesting about you, something only you could add to the topic. It might be the way you deliver it (humor is always a great way to stay top of mind), the tone of your voice, a scientific breakthrough that you achieved and are able to simplify.
Once you outline all three, the talk should give your audience something they need, in an interesting way that is unique to you and leads to the goal you’re aiming for.
Focus on the structure, pace, opening hook and only then the slides. They should support the story and your words, and preferably be only visual
Yellow Bricks provides focused, hands-on preparation for conference speakers, from shaping the talk's narrative spine to refining slide decks, practicing delivery, and cutting the buzzwords that dilute your message. The goal: a talk that earns attention, sparks conversation, and builds your reputation long after the conference ends.

What does the process of working with you look like?
Before any story is shaped, the work begins with a deep-dive discovery conversation to understand your technology, your audience, your goals, and the gap between where your communication is and where it needs to be. From there, the process is collaborative: drafting, refining, and testing narratives together until the story feels true, clear, and compelling.
Whether the output is a brand messaging framework, a conference talk, a series of workshops, or a full communications strategy, the approach stays the same: locate the real story, strip away the noise, and communicate it in a way your audience will actually feel. Clients often describe this as receiving "the real story of themselves", the version they always meant to tell.
It starts with the story.
In my executive presentation coaching work, I help leaders uncover why they’re speaking about a specific topic, what genuinely excites them, and how they’re personally connected to it. That’s where we find the spark - the idea or insight that feels real, not rehearsed.
From there, we build a clear narrative and keynote storytelling structure designed for impact. The goal isn’t just a well-organized presentation. It’s audience engagement, message retention, and a talk people keep thinking about long after the event.
Many executives assume they’re not strong public speakers. That’s often true, but it’s also fixable. With the right storytelling techniques, message design, and delivery coaching, any thoughtful leader can become a compelling and confident speaker.
Even highly technical or B2B topics can become memorable. There are no boring topics, only topics that haven’t been brought to life yet. By integrating personal stories, sharp insights, and moments of interaction, we turn complex ideas into presentations that resonate with audiences, investors, and stakeholders.
For example, in my work with AppsFlyer, I helped transform a standard industry conference talk into a standout keynote experience that increased audience engagement and became widely remembered for its core message.
If you’re preparing for a keynote, conference talk, or executive presentation, whether you need to refine your message, improve your public speaking skills, or build your talk from scratch , let’s talk.
How do you make an executive keynote or conference presentation stand out and become memorable?
How do you help executives improve public speaking skills?
I focus on practical, high-impact changes rather than generic speaking tips.
We work on clarity of message, storytelling structure, and delivery techniques that feel natural to you, not scripted. This includes pacing, emphasis, audience connection, and how to communicate complex ideas simply.
The result is stronger audience engagement, more confident delivery, and a message that lands clearly with decision-makers.
Can you help with keynote storytelling for technical or complex topics?
Yes. This is a core part of my work.
Many executives in technology, manufacturing, science and B2B sectors struggle to make their ideas accessible. I help translate complex concepts into clear, compelling narratives without losing depth or credibility.
This is especially valuable for conference talks, investor presentations, and industry keynotes where clarity and differentiation matter.
What makes a business presentation or keynote truly memorable?
Memorable talks combine three elements:
A clear, focused idea worth remembering
A narrative structure that builds tension and insight
A human element: story, perspective, or interaction
When these come together, the audience doesn’t just understand the content, they remember it, share it, and act on it.
Do you work with executives on presentations from scratch or just refinement?
Both.
Some clients come with a rough idea or slide deck that needs clarity and structure. Others start from zero and need help developing a keynote, conference talk, or executive narrative from the ground up.
In both cases, the focus is the same: build a clear, engaging, and high-impact presentation that delivers results.
